This book was everything I wanted and more, the collection of Howard Phillip Lovecraft's most famous tales. It has a lot of commonly known stories and brings in a few you have not read. My time with the book was amazing, I loved reading about the stories from their prospective. If you haven't read any of Lovecraft's tales, i'll give you a quick rundown. He writes with you in the prospective of the main protagonist. The protagonist changes every story and has something to do with what happens to that person. If you want to know anymore about the book head over to the Literary overview tab above. With that out of the way i'll get into what I liked about the stories. Most of the stories were Gothic and science fiction, a taste not commonly written about in today's world. It has a lot of mature dark themes inside of it. It requires the reader to have a general understanding of life and it's mysteries. The stories rely on the reader questioning their existence in the world and being generally curious of what is in the world. What I think Lovecraft was trying to show his readers is the overlaying feeling of being so small in an already tiny world. Creating a atmosphere in each of his stories to make you question, is there any extra terrestrial life? I enjoy the feeling of confusion and the mystery of his tales. Its a amazing feeling going through the books questioning what is going on and why is it happening. Every story has something to do with a larger picture, which is why I love Lovecraft's works. Even his poems have a amazing feel to them, though not included in this book. The poems also have to do with life and it's mysteries. They have common themes of despair and life, just like some of the stories in this book. This book was heavenly to me and made me go look up YouTube videos about the lore of them. Each story contains a bit of the lore within them, making you read all of them to truly understand the bigger picture going on. Personally I think everyone should give Lovecraft's stories a try, either by looking them up online or buying the book i'm writing about. He has written at least one tale that I feel everyone will enjoy. Everyone should look into Lovecraft's works to try to understand that kind of writing. Studying some of his tales will give you a greater understanding of eldritch and Gothic writing.
